PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a magnetic disk device by demagnetizing the recording and reproducing R/W core of a magnetic head after recording is completed. CONSTITUTION:Switches 16 and 18 are opened normally and one switch is closed for a period of time width (t) after the completion of recording. When a driver 8 is turned on right before the completion of recording, the switch 16 is closed, and when a driver 8 is turned on, the switch 18 is closed. The switch 16 is closed on the completion of recording to turn off the driver 8, so a recording current which flows between the center tap 4 of an R/W winding 1 and a driving terminal 2 flows through the loop consisting of the part between the center tap 4 and driving terminal 2, a capacitor 15, and the closed switch 16 to be consumed. Thus, a pit error rate decreases and the reliability of the magnetic disk device is improved. |
