PURPOSE:To obtain a superior magnetic recording medium free from curl, having a low coefft. of friction, and causing hardly drop-out while preventing after- cure by forming a protective film contg. a radiation-curing resin having unsatd. double bonds and a thermoplastic resin on the surface of a ferromagnetic thin film. CONSTITUTION:A coating liq. is prepd. by adding a lubricant to a soln. of a mixture of a radiation-curing resin having unsatd. double bonds such as acrylic modified urethane elastomer with a thermoplastic resin such as a vinyl chloride- vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol copolymer. The coating liq. is applied to the surface of a ferromagnetic thin film formed on a support, and the solvent is evaporated by drying with hot air and an infrared lamp. The resulting film is cured by irradiating electron beams or the like in an inert gaseous atmosphere to form a protective film. Thus, a magnetic recording medium having a protective film with superior wear resistance is obtd. at a high curing reaction rate without causing sticking due to aftercure. |
