Process for the purification of acetylene polymers.

A process for the purification of acetylene polymers comprising removing polymerization catalyst from the acetylene polymers by contacting the polymers with organic acids such as saturated fatty acids or acid anhydrides. This contacting with the organic acids enables the amount of the residual catalyst in the acetylene polymers in a short period of time to be greatly reduced. Hence the thus-purified acetylene polymers are suitable for use in the fabrication of, e.g., batteries or as photoconductive materials.
