FORMATION OF COLOR DIFFUSION TRANSFER IMAGE BY THERMODEVELOPMENT

PURPOSE:To form a sharp color image stable against environmental conditions by forming an imagewise distribution of a chelatable dye with a nonthermodiffusible dye donor and transferring said distribution to an image receiving layer contg. polyvalent metal ions. CONSTITUTION:A thermodevelopable photosensitive material contg. a nonthermodiffusible dye donor capable of releasing a chelatable dye by thermodevelopment, and a thermodevelopable photosensitive material contg. an org. salt are imagewise exposed, and then the imagewise distribution of the chelatable dye is formed from this color donor. At least a part of said distribution is transferred to an image receiving layer contg. multivalent ions having a lamination relation to said photosensitive material by using an org. solvent or melting it to form the imagewise distribution of the dye chelated with said metal ions in the image receiving layer. A layer contg. said ions contains a donor of the metal ions contg. said ions in a binder, or said ions alone in the binder.
