PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst body having superior, catalytic activity and the low content of a platinum element, by depositing a liquid mixture in which platinum in a powdery and ionic state, gamma-alumina powder and an org. binder are dispersed and mixed in an org. solvent, on a carrier and carrying out a calcining treatment. CONSTITUTION:Metallic fine powder of a platinum element and a compd. of said element which is soluble in an org. solvent are placed in a state of coexistence in the org. solvent. After an org. binder and gamma-alumina powder are added, the solid substances are dispersed thoroughly in the liquid. The liquid mixture is deposited on a metallic or ceramic carrier, heated and calcined. Thus, a catalyst body is obtd., which has superior catalytic activity and high depositing strength, and the content of the platinum element is lowered by the gamma-alumina promoter. |
