The tennis racquet comprises a frame (1) provided with bores (14) to receive the cylindrical ends (5) of flanged string locating elements (3) inserted from outside. Each has a central bore (6) and a bore in the flange, through which a string (2) is passed to form a knot loop (13), whilst the string is held under tension by clamps (16,17). - At least near the final end of a string, the frame is provided with a further bore (24) through which that end is returned. It can be tensioned (15) to tighten the knot before the clamps are released.
