Pre-fabricated pipe lengths (1-3) each consist of an inner pipe (4) and an outer pipe (5). The inner pipe has at one end a welded ring (6), with a flange (7) and weld seam (8). The weld between pipe (4) and ring (6) is V-shaped. At the other end of the inner pipe is a ring (10) consolidated by a V-shaped weld (11) to the inner pipe (4), also having a flange (12) and weld seam (13). The ring has a groove (14) which accepts two semi-circular filler pieces (15). The outer pipe has at one end a V-shaped gap with a welded ring (17), having an outward pointing flange (18) which in the radial direction overlaps the flange of the ring (6). The filler piece dimensions are such that the O is larger than the I of flange (21), enabling fitting of an insulating ring.
