发明名称 Method of fusing atomizing and spraying a refractory oxide
摘要
1,003,118. Coating surfaces. NORTON CO. Nov. 5, 1963 [Nov. 7, 1962], No. 43618/63. Headings B2B and B2F. [Also in Division H5] Refractory oxides are fused, atomized and sprayed by establishing an arc plasma in a confined chamber, accelerating the resultant gas jet flame by issuing it from a constricted exit from the chamber, feeding a rod of the refractory oxide into the jet flame to render it molten and for stripping and atomizing the molten oxide from the tip of the rod, and conveying the molten atomized oxide to a surface to be coated therewith. The jet flame may be produced by hydrogen-argon mixture, or nitrogen. As shown, an arc is struck between electrodes 10, 11 supplied by water-cooled conductors 15, 16 and surrounded by water cooling passages 16. Gas under pressure is supplied through inlet 12, and the plasma issues through orifice 13. The oxide to be sprayed, in the form of a rod, is fed along feed shoot 20 so that its end is impinged upon by the plasma flame. Additional gas, e.g. compressed air, may be supplied to the air cap '21 to shape the spray and reduce the size of the molten droplets
