A closing arrangement for the nozzle of an injection moulding machine comprises at least three members which are each displaceable parallel to a rectilinear edge thereof to open and close the nozzle, extensions of these edges intersecting in a point (26 in Fig. 1). In one Example (Figs. 1, 2) four members 2, 3, 4, 5 of prismatic shape are arranged in a housing (not shown) so as to be displaceable along extensions of their edges 22 ... 25 from open position (Fig. 1) to closed position (Fig. 2). In Figs 3, 4 (not shown) the closing members are of circular sector shaped cross section; in Fig. 3a (not shown) three closing members are used, while in Fig. 3b (not shown) four closing members of square section are used. The closing members may be spring-biased towards closed position. In Fig. 11 only two of the closing members (101, 102) are seen and these are provided with nose portions 103, 104 for engagement with an annular groove in a clamping ring 95 secured to a mould 91. Fig. 11 shows the parts in position for injection through a passage 94 in the mould 91 by an injection worm 106. When the nozzle is withdrawn from the mould the closing members 101, 102 slide forwardly relative to the nozzle so as to close it (Figs. 12 to 14, not shown).</p> |
