PURPOSE:To control the timing for starting the pressurization of the fuel by controlling the rate of fuel supplied to a timing control chamber, thereby changing the stroke of a timing plunger, and by allowing this plunger to perform control of the timing at which a release mechanism shall be shut. CONSTITUTION:A timing control chamber 12 is connected with a solenoid valve 54 for controlling the timing, through a feed pump 34 and a timing check valve 58. This solenoid valve 54 is designed to open when a signal is given, which is under such a control of a control circuit 100, that an injection timing in accordance with the operating condition of the engine is obtained. If a timing plunger 4 is in a position raised from the ordinary position, a ring-shaped groove 30 will be in communication with a release groove 29 to permit the timing control chamber 12 to have communication with this release groove 29 through a longitudinal 32, and a transverse 31 hole and said ring-shaped groove 30. According to this arrangement, a solenoid valve for this purpose can be made in a simple construction to ensure that no higher pressure is applied to the valve. |
