PURPOSE:To improve adhesiveness between the stem and base adhesive as well as a withstand voltage characteristic between stem pins each other, by introducing a washing process by means of an acid or alkaline solution into the final process of stem manufacture. CONSTITUTION:When assembling a cathode-ray tube, a stem 2 molded in desired form is washed in an acid or alkaline solution in the stage before putting an electron gun into the stem 2, while the stem is washed in water after being washed in said solution and then dried. The solution of hydrogen fluoride or acid ammonium fluoride is used for acid washing. In this way, after completely removing stain stuck to the stem 2, the electron gun is mounted. Next, after the electron gun is sealed in a bulb having an applied phosphor screen 11 and said bulb is exhausted, the stem 2 is stuck to the base 13 with the base adhesive 14 of a silicon system. In this way, the adhesiveness between the base 2 and the adhesive 14 is strengthened thus improving a withstand voltage characteristic between stem pins each other. |
