The unit may be mounted in a building wall. The frame (1), has an aperture (2) for the ventilator (3), provided with sound attenuating devices (4). Resilient couplers (6) connect a frame part (5) to the main frame. Ventilating slots are covered by a valve (7) operated by a control knob (8). A frame part (5) is connected via sound and heat insulting couplers (9) to a silencer box, with side walls (10) and longitudinal profiles having E-shaped tops. The bottom profile (14) acts as a slot resonator. In front of the air passage (20) is a skirt (21) preventing ingress of rain.
