Weak ground or water-soaked ground is solidified by injecting it with a grout mixture based on water glass. The grout mixture, a non-alkaline aqueous silicate solution, is prepared by mixing an aqueous acid reagent solution with water glass to eliminate the alkaline component. The mixt. is characterized by two conditions A and B. Condition A is that the pH of the solution is below 5. Condition B requires that the value of [H+ /[SiO2 n is not more than l X lO-3, provided that [H+ is a molar concentration of H+ion, [SiO2 is a molar concentration of silica, and n is a molar ratio of water glass.
