Process for the treatment of fabric, especially for a seam-opening operation in the production of a garment. According to the invention, steam pressing is carried out by means of a steam iron 11, this being followed immediately by cold-air blowing carried out by blowing means 16 fastened at the rear of the iron, causing an abrupt drop of temperature and of moisture content in the fabric.
