PURPOSE:To aim at making a steering wheel light weight and increasing the strength of the steering wheel with respect to torsional and bending moments, by forming the steering wheel of a rim and a spoke which are composed of core members made of a lightweight shape-hold material, and reinforced plastic layers reinforced with a unidirectionally reinforcing fiber material. CONSTITUTION:A rim 1 is formed of a ring-like rim core member 1a made of plastic materials such as, for example, foamed materials or lightweight shape- hold materials such as, for example, rubber materials, and a reinforced plastic layer 3 arranged around the core member 1a and reinforced with a unidirectionally reinforcing fiber material 2 including carbon fibers or alumina fibers. A spoke 4 is formed of a stick-like spoke core member 4a made of lightweight shape-hold materials and a reinforced plastic layer 3 arranged around the spoke core member 4a inforced with the unidirectionally reinforcing fiber material 2. |
