The invention relates to an apparatus for flow measurement of flowing media, in which a float which is located in the stream of these media flowing through a channel is taken along to a greater or lesser extent by the flow of gases or liquids. This float contains an embedded bar magnet, and a switch fastened on the housing of the apparatus is actuated by magnetic forces whenever a predetermined flow rate is exceeded or not reached. Arranged parallel to the said channel is a second channel, which does not communicate with the first channel and in which an oppositely poled magnet body is mounted easily displaceably by means of fitted-on sliding pieces. This magnet body is taken along by magnetic forces upon displacement of the float and its respective position is visible through a sight glass. This design offers the advantage that, should the sight glass break, there is no effect on the flow of the medium to be measured and persons who are in the vicinity are not endangered by, for example, hot liquids spraying out or gases flowing out. Furthermore, the inside of the sight glass is not soiled by the flowing medium and there is no need for the cleaning work usually required in the case of previous embodiments.
