A display unit has a plurality of luminous elements (5, 6) and at a distance therefrom a dial (1) having dial sections (2, 3) which are in alignment with the luminous elements (5, 6). A disc (7) made from transparent material is positioned in the interspace between the dial (1) and the luminous elements (5, 6). This disc projects the display of the luminous elements (5, 6) onto the surface of the disc (7) on the side of the dial. As a result, parallax is greatly reduced when the dial is read off, or even completely excluded (Figure 2). <IMAGE>
