The invention relates to an apparatus for producing an application layer of mixed materials on an application surface, consisting of a rotor having a plurality of paddles, which rotor is mounted in a housing which surrounds it like a drum and has an inlet opening and an outlet opening, a conveying pipe penetrating centrally one face of the housing with its mouth. The object on which the invention is based is to improve an apparatus of the abovementioned type in such a way that it ensures low-energy and easily controllable restricted guidance of the material mixture on its journey from the conveying pipe to the application surface. This object is achieved according to the invention essentially in that the paddles consist of closed-wall hollow bodies (12, 17, 22) which are aligned symmetrically with respect to the housing longitudinal axis (9) and have a receiving opening (10) and an ejecting opening (11), the receiving opening (10) being assigned to the mouth (6') of the conveying pipe (6), and the ejecting opening (11) being assigned to the peripheral region (13), provided with the outlet opening (5), of the housing (3).
