To achieve high aerodynamic efficiency (large planing angle, variable development of force per area) for the range of use in average to strong apparent wind forces, a profiled body of high aspect ratio and pivotable trailing edge is used. The selected swing-out of the trailing edge is secured by a snap-in or catch mechanism and the swing-out angle can be adjusted during sailing. Depending on the emphasis on more manoeuvrability or higher aerodynamic efficiency, the profiled body is constructed in various ways: a) rigid wing with movable flap b) profiled mast and movable trailing edge rigid in itself and having fabric covering on both sides c) profiled mast and trailing edge of steel wire with fabric covering on both sides The rig is guided by handles which also perform the task of adjusting the angle of the trailing edge. To reduce a moment about the vertical axis, the mast foot is arranged near the sail pressure point. When not in use, the starting sheet is automatically drawn into the interior of the profile. The raising of heavy rigs is facilitated by deflecting the starting sheet.
