A tyre pressure control device with a pneumatically controlled pressure adjustment valve (13) and with a control valve (28) which controls the pressure adjustment valve (13) is disclosed, in which, for the purpose of rapidly changing the tyre pressure with a maximum air flow rate, the control valve (28) is constructed as an electromagnetically controlled relay valve and the exciter current for the magnet exciter winding (31) of the relay valve (28) is adjusted by an electronic control device (33) which is connected to an actual pressure value generator (34) and a set pressure value generator (35). The electronic control device (33) has a computing element (42) which calculates a tyre pressure adjustment time (t) from the set pressure value and actual pressure value. When increasing the tyre pressure the control device (33) sets the maximum exciter current and when reducing the tyre pressure it sets the minimum exciter current (Fig. 1) for the duration of the tyre pressure adjustment time. <IMAGE>
