A supporting device for breathing-gas cylinders of compressed-air breathing apparatuses is specified, in which the breathing-gas cylinders are connected at the underside of the supporting device to a valve arrangement and are held on the supporting device at the top by a horizontally running band enclosing them. By means of a clip which can be opened and closed like scissors, this band can be changed to two lengths alternatively for accommodating one or two breathing-gas cylinders and can be tensioned in the direction of the supporting device by means of a horizontally pivotable tensioning device on the side opposite the clip or in the area of the horizontal centre of the supporting device.
