The windrower is for attachment between the axles of a tractor, an with formation of the windrower between the tractor axles and within the tractor track. A horizontal frame guided above the ground is provided at its convex front and rear sides with in each case a number of guide wheels and at its inner and outer ends with in each case a drive or deflecting wheel, these wheels each having the form of conventional solid-rubber transport wheels. An endless metallic chain with guide shanks matched to the wheels is laid around the wheels and can form the mowed material or windrow material into a windrow with its tools such as cutters and drivers, or spring tines. The appliance is brought into an upright position for transport, in a similar manner to a conventional cutter bar. <IMAGE>
