In an indicator, the pointer (4) is made of a transparent fluorescent material. The pointer (4) has a conventional reflection area (7) through which light is deflected towards the tip of the pointer. Fluorescent light passes into a light space (8) above and behind the shaft (3) of the pointer (4). In this light space (8), a uniform light field forms which shines through the pointer (4) in this area. <IMAGE>
