摘要 PURPOSE:To enable an optical transmission path which is band compensated with a simple means by providing a gap of a specific value or above which is covered circumferentially between the opposed end faces of front and rear fibers in the juncture to be provided in the transmission path thereby widening the transmisson band. CONSTITUTION:If a gap or cavity G is formed by retreating the optical fiber end face of an opticalcable 16 from the end face of a connector 18, the gap G is interposed between the end faces of both optical cables without tight contact with each other in the stage of coupling a connector 18 to a receptor 14. This gap G is adequately several 10- several 100mum length in the longitudinal direction of the cable. If the gap is interposed in the optical transmission path in such a way, the transmission band can be widened. The improvement in the characteristic of the optical transmission path by the insertion of the gap is contributed by the control of incident light or the decreased numerical aperture NA. More specifically, if the gap G is provided, the light incident to the fiber 16a of the optical cable is limited only by the light advancing in the longitudinal direction of the cable and the other light is absorbed by the inside surface of the connector 18, etc. The numerical aperture NA by which an incident angle theta is limited is decreased and a 6dB band is widened.
