PURPOSE:To calculate plate thickness with high accuracy in follow-up to an abrupt change in the plate thickness and to permit smooth automatic deceleration of an uncoiler by changing the change rate of the plate thickness together with the remaining length with a required function. CONSTITUTION:A difference between the plate thickness of this time calculated in a plate thickness calculating circuit 10 and the previous plate thickness is calculated with a substrator 12, and the result obtd. by such calculation is limited to an upper limit value HL by an upper limiter 14 and to a lower limit value LL by a lower limiter. The deviation in the plate thickness limited to the range of the upper and lower limit values is weighted with a weight K by a divider 18 and the previous thickness is added thereto in an adder 20, by which a plate thickness (h) is determined. The value HL, the value LL and the weight K are set as a function of a residual length l so that the value HL and the value LL increase with a decrease in the length l and that the weight K decreases with a decrease in the length l. |
