The invention relates to a gas turbine power plant with closed gas cycle, which has a high temperature reactor as heat source and has at least one main cycle with gas turbine set for the residual heat removal. In order to prevent a proportion of the cooling gas in the bypass to the reactor core being circulated through the main cycle or the main cycles counter to the normal flow direction in residual heat removal operation, at least one shut-off element is provided in each of the main cycles, which element is arranged in the area of one of the heat exchangers and is closed during residual heat removal operation.
