PURPOSE:To easily obtain a wood fiber mat with a better deep drawing moldability by a method wherein a wood fiber obtained by steam boiling a wood chip for decomposition of fiber is mixed additively with a long fiber, a powdery thermosetting synthetic resin and a thermoplastic synthetic resin and dried by heat after the matting thereof. CONSTITUTION:A wood chip of a needle-leaved tree is steam boiled for decomposition of fiber to obtain a wood fiber by separating steam. The wood fiber is taken out as intact without being dried, mixed additively with a long fiber large in the tensile strength, a powdery thermosetting synthetic resin such as phenol resin powder and a powdery or fibrous thermoplastic synthetic resin such as polyethylene fiber and then, a powdery synthetic resin is distributively attached onto the surface of the wood fiber. The mixture thus obtained is treated with a cotton making machine to form a mat, which is squeezed being dried by heat at the temperature above the melting point of said thermoplastic synthetic resin but not reaching the hardening temperature of the thermosetting synthetic resin to obtain a desired mat. |
