A pivotal gate (2) capable of closing two opposite openings (4, 5) of storage basins, the gate (2) being mounted in a central wall (1) between the openings (4, 6) and being releasably and plvotably mounted on holders (8, 17) provided on the central wall (1) adjacent each opening (4, 5). Piston and cylinder actuated locking and unlocking means enable hinged rods (12) to be selectively released from one of the pairs of holders (8, 17) to enable the door to pivot on the other pair of holders to close one or other of the openings (4, 5).
