PURPOSE:To use the same cooling bed in common by disengaging a rotary sprocket from a fixed sprocket by moving an interlocking member in its axial direction, and changing properly a transporting pitch in correspondence with the size of a material to be cooled. CONSTITUTION:An interlocking member 15 is moved in its axial direction by actuating a cylinder, to disengage a claw 16 provided to the member 15 from a claw 10 of a sprocket 3. After rotating the sprocket 3 in the normal direction by a prescribed angle by a driving device through a driving shaft 8; an operating lever 21 is rotated by reversely actuating the cylinder to engage the claw 16 of member 15 with the claw 10 of sprocket 3. A phase deviation of the prescribed angle is produced between the rotated sprocket 3 and a stationary sprocket 3'; as a result, rollers 6, 6' provided respectively to roller chains 2, 2' for every two link of them and at the same position are shifted from each other by one link to halve the transporting pitch, thereby a cooling bed adequate to a small diametral material is obtained. |
