The invention relates to the treatment of products which are used as animal feed and which contain the oil of oilseed crops, which contains unpalatable and/or poisonous compounds. The products which are prepared from oilseeds are treated with an oxidising physiologically suitable catalyst, for example a copper, iron, manganese, cobalt, nitrate, chromium, nickel, vanadium and/or permanganate catalyst, such as copper sulphate, potassium sulphate, potassium bichromate, potassium nitrate, sodium sulphate and/or nickel oxide or vanadium oxide. The amount of catalyst to be added is 0.5 - 5% by weight. The treatment is carried out at a moisture content of 8 - 30% by weight and at temperatures of 60 - 120 DEG C. The product can be treated using extruders or granulators which are generally used in the production of animal feed. The treatment is advantageously carried out at a sodium hydroxide content of 1 - 10% by weight. |
