CAR FOR RECEIVING INCANDESCENT COKE

A car for receiving incandescent coke and transporting it from a coking chamber to a quenching site comprises a body removably mounted on an undercarriage and consisting of a wall structure and a bunker disposed beneath the wall structure. The invention resides in that the bunker and the wall structure each is surrounded by a band in contact with the same of the opposite part at the junction between the wall structure and the band for linear expansion under the action of heat from the incandescent coke. The invention is useful in departments wherein dry quenching of coke is a current technique.
