PURPOSE:To prevent bubbles from being generated in a pump chamber, appropriately adjust the quantity of a fuel in the pump chamber and obtain a desirable fuel injection quantity and a desirable injection timing. CONSTITUTION:A portion of the fuel contained in a pumping chamber 50 is released into a fuel feed canal 16 through a longitudinal channel 48 and a lead 47, the pressure of the thus escaped high-pressure fuel, namely, an escape fuel is conducted into a pressure spring chamber 31 through an escape pressure canal 18, cooperates with a pressure spring 34 in closing a nozzle needle 12, thereby improving cut-off at the time of finishing the injection of the fuel, that is, the so-called fuel cut-off. Accordingly, the fuel is not choked to an extreme extent, and bubbles are prevented from being generated in the pumping chamber 50. |
