PURPOSE:To make it possible to keep printing quality in an applied mode to a high degree, by lowering the running speed of a carriage when a bold printing mode or a shadow printing mode is indicated. CONSTITUTION:A digital controller 3 operates the moving amount and speed of a carriage corresponding to input information to set the same to a position setting circuit 9 and a moving amount indicating signal or a speed indicating signal is sent to a D/A converter 4. At this time, a differential amplifier 5 outputs speed deviation and the carriage is run at the indicated speed. In this case, the arrival of the carriage to a desired position is judged on the basis of the output of a wave form shaping circuit 12 and the controller 3 permits the performance of printing. In addition, the controller 3 performs such control that the speed of the carriage is set to a lower value as compared with the usual speed thereof during minute pitch operation in a mode such as a bolt printing mode or a shaddow printing mode. |
