PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of an Au-Pt-Pd-Ag type sliding contact material by adding specified elements to the contact material so as to produce an oxide during sliding and to make the grains fine. CONSTITUTION:To an alloy consisting of 19-21% Au, 4-6% Pt, 44-46% Pd and 29-31% Ag as a sliding contact material, especially as a brush contact material is added 0.5-10% at least one among Sb, Te, Mo, Pb, Se, As and Zn without changing the ratio in the composition. 0.01-0.5% Fe group metal such as Fe, Ni or Co may be added furthermore. By adding at least one among Sb, Te, etc., the oxide of the element is produced during sliding, and the oxide acts as a lubricant. By adding the Fe group metal, the grains are made fine. Accordingly, the wear resistance during sliding is improved by the synergistic effect. |
