A stair-climbing hand truck comprises a body (10), including a generally rectangular frame (11), and a supporting arrangement for said body (10), including two parallel horizontal shafts (21, 35) extending transversally to said frame (11) and forming a lower shaft (21) and an upper shaft (35), each shaft (21, 35) having a pair of opposite spiders (19, 33) mounted thereon, the spiders (19) of the lower shaft (21) carrying freely rotatable supporting wheels (18), while the spiders (33) of the upper shaft (35) carry auxiliary supporting means (32), electrically powered driving means (22-28, 36, 37) being provided for bringing both pairs of spider members (19, 33) into rotation. In order to make the truck more stable and reliable, the auxiliary supporting means (32) are secured in fixed positions to their spiders (33) and located in laterally offset positions with respect to said wheels (18) to be able, during rotation of the spiders (19, 33) to move along circular paths partially overlapping the movement paths of said wheels (18). |
