<p>A clutch mechanism for an internal combustion engine starter actuator of the type comprising a driving element 22, connected for rotation by straight grooves 20, 21 with the rotor shaft 3 and having a set of "wolves teeth" 23; and a driven element 7 connected by means of helicoidal grooves 8 to the pinion 1 of the actuator and having an additional set of teeth 9; is provided with (a) with a set of fly weights 28 which are movable radially under the effect of centrifugal force and co-operate with a substantially conical ramp to disengage the two sets of teeth above a certain speed, the fly weights when they have reached their outermost position ensuring locking to keep the two sets of teeth in the disengaged position; and (b) with means to bring about unlocking when the starter comes back to its rest position. <IMAGE></p> |
