PURPOSE:To attain stable picture transmission even if the state of line is changed during the transmission of a picture by providing a means changing the transmission rate during the transmission of picture to a transmitter/receiver of a facsimile device. CONSTITUTION:A receiving signal is received by an NSS/DCS signal detecting circuit 102 and a DCN signal detecting circuit 106 at the receiving side, the circuit 102 transmits the transmission rate during receiving to a control circuit 114, and the circuit 114 stores the transmission rate during present receiving to a storage device 112. Further, the receiving state of a picture is discriminated by a control circuit 82 and a TCF signal receiving circuit 104 and its state is informed to the transmission side respectively via a CFR signal transmission circuit 110 and an FTT signal transmission circuit 98 depending on the success or failure of the receiving of a training signal. The success/failure of the receiving at the receiving side is displayed on a display circuit via a control circuit from a receiving state signal from the receiving side. When the receiving state represents a failure, the control circuit extracts the next transmission rate from a transmission rate storage device and transmits the rate from the NSS/DCS signal transmission circuit by changing the rate. |
