PURPOSE:To prevent production of a thermal crown so as not to cause deformity due to cooling of even a thin strip and to uniform quality of material in lateral direction after cooling by forming the captioned roll in such a manner as an outer cylinder and a central member maintain joined condition in at least more than one point except both end parts of a barrel part of the roll. CONSTITUTION:A central member 2, columnar or a cylinder of considerable thickness as compared with an outer cylinder, is joined to the outer cylinder 1 at all partition members. At this time, it is so joined as to prevent disconnection of the joining part even in case thermal expansion of the outer cylinder is about to be caused by its rise in temperature due to heat from a strip, and also to reduce the amount of heat passing through the joining part by increasing thermal resistance of the joining part. Thus, a thermal crown is hardly produced even if only vicinity of the center of a roll is heated by a strip which is small in breadth. |
