The invention concerns a compacting roller. This roller comprises a hollow vibrating wheel 1, a hollow shaft 4 with a fixed external out-of-balance weight 4c and with an internal counter-out-of-balance weight 19 which can rotate in the shaft 4 whose ends are mounted in two bearings 4a, 4b coaxial with the wheel 1. Two motors, mounted respectively on the opposite sides 10a, 10b of the chassis, are respectively applied to the opposing ends of the wheel 1 and of the shaft 4 in order to drive them in rotation. According to the invention the output shaft 16 of the first motor 14, 15 is hollow; it is mounted in the prolongation of the shaft 4, coaxially with the wheel 1 to which it is coupled. This allows a manual adjustment of the angular position of the counter-out-of-balance weight 19 by making it rotate in the shaft 4, by means of a tool whose shaft 24 is engaged through the output shaft 16 of the first motor 15, 16. The invention is applicable to compacting rollers with a vibrating wheel. <IMAGE>
