PURPOSE:To reproduce the information on a recording medium, which has the track density lower than the track density of magnetic heads, with good reliability by reading out said information with the head tracks divided to plural groups, and selecting the information having the smaller number of errors from the information in each group. CONSTITUTION:Logical circuits 10, 20 for correcting and detecting errors are provided in a storage device for 18-tracks, and 18 pieces of head tracks are divided to an odd number and an even number. If too many errors to be corrected by the circuit 10 are generated and when all the errors are assumed to be corrected in the circuit 20, a positive signal is outputted in a signal line 30 and a zero signal in a signal line 40. The outputting of the information from the odd number of the positive signal of the line 30 is obviated by the following circuit operation. On the other hand, the information from the even number is outputted from the zero signal of the line 10. An OR circuit 50 selects and outputs the information read out by the head track of the even number. The opposite thereof is true as well. When too many errors to be corrected are generated in both logical circuits, an error generation signal 60 is obtd. from an AND circuit 55' by the positive signals from the lines 30, 40. |
