PURPOSE:To make it possible to mount a more noiseless speed change gear on an automobile, by making the torsional angle of a master gear slightly smaller than the torsional angle of a gear to be measured, or imparting a reverse follow lead to the master gear, measuring the change in the central positions of both gears with respect to rotation, thereby perfectly detecting a dent. CONSTITUTION:Master gears A1 and A2 are fixed to shafts 2 and 3. The shafts 2 and 3 are connected to driving motors 6 and 7 through universal couplings 4 and 5. The master gears A1 and A2 are rotated by the rotations of the motors. The shafts 2 and 3 are attached to supporting tables 12 and 13 by bearings so that they can be rotated. They are fixed to measuring parts C1 and C2, which can be reciprocated without resistance along the line connecting the centers of the master gears A1 and A2 and the center of a gear be to be measured B and supported by, e.g., runners Meanwhile, the gear to be measured B is attached to a supporting table 11 which is fixed to a base by a bearing so that the gear can be freely rotated, and rotated in following the rotation of the master gears A1 and A2.
