<p>A cushion (A) is composed of strips (2) formed from resilient foam material, and these strips (2), provide a displaceable surface. Each strip (2) in the primary supporting region of the cushion (A) has a succession of convex surfaces (12) along its front face and alternate concave and flat surfaces (10, 8) along its back face, there being a single concave surface (10) behind each convex surface (12) and a single flat surface (8) behind every region where two convex surfaces (12) meet. In effect, each strip (2) is composed of a succession of arch-like segments (4) which are joined together as an integral unit. The strips (2) are preferably arranged side-by-side with the arch-like segments (4) of any strip (2) being offset from the arch-like segments (4) of the strips (2) adjacent to it. </p> |
