An envelope (10) is used for packing, displaying, storing or filing magnetic discs (D) for computers. A first sheet (12) and a second sheet (14) form a first pocket (E1) and a second pocket (E2). The first pocket (E1) receives the magnetic disc (D), whereas the second pocket (E2) preferably serves to receive an index card (26), in order to facilitate subsequent filing and indexed classification of the disc (D) contained in the envelope (10). A tear strip (30) for opening the first pocket (E1) consists of a part of the first sheet (12) and is separated from the rest thereof by separation lines (32). The magnetic disc (D) can thus be stored in the envelope (10) in a protected and substantially sealed state, removal of the tear strip (30) giving access to the pocket (E1) containing the disc and providing a clear optical indication that the envelope (10) has been opened. <IMAGE>
