Paper or cardboard material fabricated from a suspension of aqueous materials containing fibers incorporates, as a filler, calcium hydrosilicate having a high residual moisture content, said calcium hydrosilicate being preferably used in the form of acicular crystals and having a xonotlitic structure and fabricated according to a hydrothermal process with various hydration steps. The calcium hydrosilicate has the particularity of binding the hydrogen bridges. It binds to reinforce the rigidity of the sheet material texture appropriately at the hydrogen bridges between the fibers and also enables the bond of the hydrogen bridges between each other. It is also possible to use exclusively or substantially inorganic fibers to obtain non-flammable or hardly flammable papers and cardboards. To this effect, a synthetic fiber of magnesium and aluminium silicate is used in combination with glass fibers. The inorganic fibers are activated at least partially and are superficially coated by means of organic polyelectrolites to treat them and form bonds of hydrogen bridges.
