<p>PURPOSE:To recover efficiently and easily platinum from a waste elementary cell contg. phosphoric acid and a platinum catalyst at a low cost by heating the cell to a specified temp. to react phosphoric acid with platinum and by leaching the resulting platinum compound into an aqueous soln. CONSTITUTION:The waste elementary cell of a phosphoric acid type fuel cell contg. phosphoric acid as an electrolyte and a platinum catalyst as a reaction accelerator is heated to >=200 deg.C, preferably >=230 deg.C to condense phosphoric acid and to react it with platinum. The resulting platinum compound is leached into an aqueous soln. Platinum is recovered with high safety.</p> |
