PURPOSE:To form a clear color image on an image receiving layer by forming a layer contg. a thermally nondiffusible dye providing substance which releases a sublimable dye or a precursor thereof by the reaction with the oxidized product of a developing agent produced by heat development. CONSTITUTION:A heat developable photosensitive material having a layer contg. a thermally nondiffusible dye providing substance is imagewise exposed. The dye providing substance is represented by formula I [where Dye is a residue of a sublimable dye or a precursor thereof, X is a group which breaks the N-X bond by the reaction with the oxidized product of a developing agent and can release a sublimable dye or a precursor thereof as a function of development, and the group is represented by formula II or III (where each of R<1>-R<4> is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, carbamoyl or the like, and R<1> and R<2> may bond to each other to form a condensed ring together with the benzene ring)]. The exposed photosensitive material is developed by heating, and the resulting image is transferred by heating to an image receiving layer superposed on the photosensitive material. Thus, a stable color image is simply obtd. |
