<p>PURPOSE:To perform easily hot repair of an immersion pipe without requiring special installation by charging basic refractory particles into the slag in a ladle and coating the immersion pipe with said particles. CONSTITUTION:Basic refractory particles 12 are charged near part of slag 10 floating in a ladle 2 contg. a molten steel 4 where an immersion pipe 6 is immersed prior to starting refining by degassing in said ladle to decrease the temp. of the slag 10, then the slag 10 increases its viscosity into the molten or half molten state. When the pipe 6 is immersed therein and the ladle 2 is moved upward and downward repeatedly by several times, the outside and inside surface of the pipe 6 are coated by the slag 10 having a high viscosity. Brick scrap of natural magnesia, magnesia, or magnesia-chromium is used as the material for the basic refractory particles to be charged and the gain size thereof is regulated to <=30mm..</p> |
