PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a developed picture, by allowing an electric field to act upon the layer of a developer stuck onto a developing roller to make the thickness of the layer of the developer uniform. CONSTITUTION:An AC power source 11a and a DC power source 11b are connected to a part consisting of conductive materials of a developing roller 11, and the positive side of the DC power source 11b is connected to the developing roller 11. A mesh plate 26 is provided in a toner thickness adjusting part 24 so as to face the developing roller 11, and an AC power source 26a and a DC power source 26b are connected to this mesh plate 26, and the positive side of the DC power source 26b is grounded. The electric field is always generated from the developing roller 11 toward the mesh plate 26 because the voltage impressed to the mesh plate 26 is made lower than that to the developing roller 11, and a toner stuck to the developing roller 11 is attracted to the side of the mesh plate 26 forcibly in a place facing the mech plate 26 by an electrostatic force, thus making the toner layer thickness uniform. |
