PURPOSE:To decrease the loss in the stage of detecting a signal and to make construction small, simple and easy-to-handle by forming a coaxial line and a dipole antenna in a case body. CONSTITUTION:A titled probe is provided with a hollow cylindrical case body 1 which penetrates the wall part of an internal combustion engine EB and is inserted and fixed in the communicating hole in a combustion chamber CH, an inside conductor II and an outside conductor III which are constituted of metallic tubes which are inserted into the body and have a ratio of diameters within a range of 1:1.5-1:4, a coaxial line 4 which has the annular space formed between the respective conductors and functions as a microwave transmitting means and an optical transmitting means, and a dipole antenna V which is formed to project from the line 4 at a length of 1/8-3/8 wavelength of the microwave used. The microwaves propagated in the chamber CH is radiated, via the antenna V, and the wave reflected from the chamber CH is received. The light emitted with the combustion is transmitted and detected via the line 4. |
