PURPOSE:To provide a printing apparatus capable of enhancing a printing speed in the same cost as conventional one, constituted so as to overlap a part of type selection during digit carrying operation. CONSTITUTION:A cratch 21 for connecting type wheels 4, 5 to a drive shaft and a cratch 22 for connecting a digit carry drive gear 32 and a printing hammer 11 to the drive shaft are used and ON-OFF operations of both cratches are controlled by a change-over arm 35 and an operation order coil 38. The operation order coil 38 is driven during printing operation to turn OFF the cratch 21 by the change-over arm 35 while the cratch 22 is turned ON to drive the printing hammer and to perform digit carrying operation. The cratch 21 is turned ON during digit carrying operation to partially overlap the digit carrying operation (a) with type selecting operation. |
